چکیده

The syntax of intuitionistic propositional second-order logic PSOLi consists of a set of propositional constants P , Q, R, etc, a denumerable set of propositional variables F , G, H, etc, together with the primitive logical signs of the conditional and the universal propositional quantifier, and ponctuation signs (parenthesis). The formulas of PSOLi are the smallest class of expressions of the language such that:

Predicativity, the Russell-Myhill Paradox, and Church's Intensional Logic

This paper sets out a predicative response to the Russell-Myhill paradox of propositions within the framework of Church’s intensional logic. A predicative response places restrictions on the full comprehension schema, which asserts that every formula determines a higher-order entity. In addition to motivating the restriction on the comprehension schema from intuitions about the stability of ref...

Set Theory and Higher-Order Logic: Foundational Issues and Mathematical Developments Program and Practical Information Contents

In 1990, W. Hugh Woodin introduced Omega-logic as an approach to truth in the universe of all sets inspired by recent work on large cardinals and determinacy. In Omega-logic statements are valid if, roughly, they hold in every forcing extension of the universe, or its sufficiently rich initial segments. Thus, Omega-logic is the logic of generic absoluteness. In this short course we will start w...

The Finitistic Consistency of Heck's Predicative Fregean System

Frege’s theory is inconsistent (Russell’s paradox). However, the predicative version of Frege’s system is consistent. This was proved by Richard Heck in 1996 using a model theoretic argument. In this paper, we give a finitistic proof of this consistency result. As a consequence, Heck’s predicative theory is rather weak (as was suspected). We also prove the finitistic consistency of the extensio...

Aspects of Predicative Algebraic Set Theory III: Sheaves

This is the third installment in a series of papers on algebraic set theory. In it, we develop a uniform approach to sheaf models of constructive set theories based on ideas from categorical logic. The key notion is that of a “predicative category with small maps” which axiomatises the idea of a category of classes and class morphisms, together with a selected class of maps whose fibres are set...

Heyting-valued interpretations for Constructive Set Theory

The theory of locales [23] has a twofold interplay with intuitionistic mathematics: first of all, the internal logic of toposes and intuitionistic set theories provide suitable settings for the development of the theory of locales [24], and secondly, the notion of a locale determines two important forms of toposes and of interpretations for intuitionistic set theories, namely localic toposes [2...
